Spreken Zonder Woorden (2022)

Spreken Zonder Woorden is an intimate piece made by Anne Suurendonk within the "AYA op de Huid" concept. Long story short, it was made to be performed in classes. It is a dance-theatre performance about the ripple effects of having parents who fled to the Netherlands. Marco's parents are originally from Bosnia and Thu's are from Vietnam.

The piece is vulnerable, aggressive and funny at times. I was commissioned to mix some existing tracks together and to add a pair of my own compositions to add to the playlist. I wrote 'Spreken Zonder Woorden' after hearing a brief recollection of the dancers tales. Which eventually also became the title of the piece.

(2022) Spreken Zonder Woorden

Ik ken alleen maar de verhalen die ik heb bedacht

Over mijn moeder en vader in hun eigen land

Ze zijn van ver gekomen

Door oorlog verspeelde dromen

Maar daar praten we niet over

Ze spreken zonder woorden
